the DESIGNER :Instinctively drawn to the arts, Nicomis • Nyx • Blalock has been designing and creating for as long as she can remember. An enthusiastic arts student, she has studied dance, music, architecture, and a wide variety of arts and craft disciplines.Born and raised in New York City, on Manhattan's "Museum Mile," her aesthetic developed eclectically, influenced equally by foreign travel, alternative culture, modern art, experimental music and ancient literature; inspired by her life-long fascinations with science fiction, mythology, tribal cultures, vintage tools, alchemy and the occult. She studied Fine Arts at NYU and SVA, before completing her degree in Jewelry and Sculpture at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. In 2002 she began creating under the name PhoeNyx Adornments, now Asha Beta.In addition to creating, Nyx has also played muse to notable artists and photographers, been featured in natonwide publications, and performed in the US, UK and Europe.Currently located in the heart of the thriving Frankford Arts Corridor,- Philadelphia, PA, she offers private lessons and internships in Metalworking in her Studio/Gallery:: Asha Beta Industries.the COLLECTION :Fusing ethnic and futuristic sensibilities, the Asha Beta Adornments Collection features bold, sculptural pieces that are wholly dramatic yet comfortably wearable.
